This collection provides a comparative analysis of development-induced migration in India and China, with a particular focus on displacement caused by urbanization and dam construction. The contributors include scholars from both countries working in academia and consultancy positions.

- ABOUT THE EDITOR

Florence PADOVANI, who was trained as a sinologist and social scientist, has been working in China and Hong Kong for more than forteen years. She has mainly focused her research on the Three Gorges displacement. Her last position in China was at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences where she carried on research on forced displacement in Shanghai municipality. She is now assistant Professor at Pantheon-Sorbonne University.
